Rating: 10/10(comic gold, in every way, shape, and form)
I can't find anything wrong with this book. not even a tiny flaw. I'm pretty sure this is our final Readers Response, so way to end it on a good note. The series of continues with more of the same, that is, more awesomeness. Here are some of my favorite quotes:
1. Calvin: "I'm not dumb. I just have a command of thoroughly useless information."
2. Calvin: "Do you believe in the devil? You know, a supreme evil being dedicated to the temptation, corruption, and destruction of man?" Hobbes: "I'm not sure that man needs the help."
3. Calvin: I'm a genius, but I'm a misunderstood genius. Hobbes: What's misunderstood about you? Calvin: Nobody thinks I'm a genius.
4. Calvin : You can't just turn on creativity like a faucet. You have to be in the right mood. Hobbes : What mood is that? Calvin : Last-minute panic.
5. Calvin's Dad:"The world isn't fair, Calvin." "I know Dad, but why isn't it ever unfair in my favour?"
6. Hobbes: "What are you doing?" Calvin : "Being cool." Hobbes : "You look more like you're bored."
Calvin : "The world bores you when you're cool."
As I've said before, Calvin and Hobbes is an indescribable work of art. The illustrations are intelligent, allowing the reader to decipher the meanings, and some of Calvin's fantasies are reminiscent of the daydreams that all kids have when they are young. Calvin and Hobbes personalities work perfectly together, creating both laughter inducing skirmishes and emotional moments. Susie, the girl next door that Calvin has a love-hate relationship with(although more often than not, the latter is displayed), and Calvin's parents are excellent supporting characters. With amazing characters, real-world references that make you see the author's views, and outstanding plot lines, Calvin and Hobbes is a unique series of strips that makes fun of the world, remind us what's most important, and most of all, makes us laugh out loud.
