I decided to read this "classic" after hearing so much praise about it. Call me crazy, but so far, it's terrible. A lot of the dialouge is hard for me to understand, and it takes me a long time to decipher wahts going on. I have to read each page twice or thrice to understand what is being said, and so far the book is incredibly slow. The only thing that's happened is a bunch of boys have crash landed on a island without any adults. I know this is supposed to turn in to a big commentary on human nature, but I'm not sure i have the patience to get to that part. After 37 painful pages, I'm wondering if I should take the effort to finish.

It is not that bad of a book. Although you might find it boring in the beginning, it gets far more interesting towards the end. The ending is great and symbolic. I really think you should finish the book and then say your views about it.
ReplyDeleteYeah, but that's coming from the guy who LOVED The Great Gatsby (worst book ever!) In any case, I would continue reading it, since books, especially classics, do get more interesting later on. Some of them have like a terrible ending that ruins the book, though. *cough, cough*(The Great Gatsby)
