Readers Response 3 + Vocab

I apologize for any irregularities in readers responses 2 and 3, I didn't realize i had to do them until we were driving to a restaurant Friday night, so I had to do them on my phone. I'm not sure if my phone did something weird to them or not.

Vocab:
1. Autodidact-one who is self taught
2. Abrogate- to abolish by authoritative purposes
3. Odious-hateful

Rangers Apprentice Book 10: The Emperor of Nihon-Ja
John Flanagan
P.-end
Rating: 8.5/10.0

The final battle. These words are stamped on the cover of the 10th addition to the epic rangers apprentice series. I had high expectations, seeing as this was a finale(see readers response 1 for my spiel on finales), and the fact that I was already hyped about the last Alex Rider delivering with a bang. The last novel isn't exactly a huge step above the others, and it doesn't really sum up the series well, but it still is a really good novel. It focuses on a violent overthrow of the emperor of nihon-ja, an event which the main characters try to stop. They protect the good emperor and try to find a strategy to defeat the powerful Senshi army with a not so great military of their own.
OK, so more of the same then. That's absolutely fine with me. An author doesn't keep my interest by recycling the same old plot elements over and over unless that formula is really, really good. The same banter between characters, and the detailed battle sequences. This series has been a long one, and what keeps me hooked is the authors consistency in being able to deliver a solid, interesting novel. And that's just what he does here. There is some conflict whether this really is the final novel or not, but it's good either way. John Flanagan has written another great book, and even though it didn't have the "end with a flourish" Alex Rider did, and didn't really sum up much, it was a good finale to the series. Or is it a finale?
